Silverstone Success

George Line of Thurcaston finished the Langford Line Motorsport’s season off in emphatic fashion, winning both races at the prestigious Walter Hayes Race Meeting held at Silverstone.

This was the final rounds of the Tiedeman Trophy Championship hosted by the Monoposto Racing Club.

George put his Formula 3 Dallara on pole position, just 0.019sec ahead of the 2nd place driver and went on to win the first race after an incident behind with the chasing pack.

Starting 2nd for the final race of the year the Langford Line Motorsport team, led by Robin Langford decided to change the gear ratio’s in order to help George fight for the lead.

A risky decision given the short turn around time between races and leaving no room for mistakes. Despite this added pressure the team worked really well together and managed to complete the task within 20 minutes, a record time!

After only just getting to the race in time the lights went out and the cars were away for the final race of 2024. George slotted into 2nd position after the opening few corners but was beginning to pressure the leader.

They came down the famous wellington straight side by side at over 100mph and headed into the Brooklands corner with neither driver willing to yield.

However thanks to the ratio change it was George who had the advantage, using the extra acceleration out of the corner to take the lead of the race.

Holding on until the checkered flag waved securing victory by only 1.1sec.

A huge thank you to everyone within the team Calum Bach, Alex Russell, Callum Kirwan, Christian Walker, Aerodynamics specialist John Hughes and the Pit Wall Ladies Laura Bach and Paige Jordan

Although it was a chilly day, the support was wonderful. A special mention to Kelly and Libby Johnson who provided wonderful homemade muffins!

The Tiedeman Trophy  is a Winter Series held over 3 Race Meetings and a point system allowing the winner to come from any class, with scores weighted for those in larger classes.

George clinched 2nd place, competing in the Mono F3A Class with 6 wins and 4 fastest laps.

A perfect end to the season for the man from Thurcaston, Leicester, Monoposto F3 A Champion and overall Runner Up in the Tiedeman Trophy.

The Team will now take a well deserved rest over the Christmas & New Year period and look forward to the Annual Awards Celebration Dinner held in the New Year.
