About Us
Formed in 2005 by Robin Langford and his son George Line, Langford Line Motorsport began when the pair started Kart Racing.
Robin, who had run a successful motor dealership in Leicestershire for many years selling Fiats, Daihatsu’s and Saabs amongst others, had competed in many rallies up to inter national level. Although Robin was very competitive and a very fast rally driver in his own right, he didn’t quite manage to reach his desired success and therefore branded himself ‘the nearly man’.
Karting was a totally new venture for Robin but thanks to his auto mechanic background, hard work and dedication he was able to quickly learn the ropes and take on the established teams within the paddock.
In just their second season karting George competed in the WTP National Cadet Championship, narrowly losing out to overall champion and future Le Mans 24-hour winner Ben Barnicoat and finishing equal on points with future Mercedes Formula 1 Driver George Russell, both running with professional race teams. Not a bad start for the ‘Lad & Dad’ privateer outfit.
They continued kart racing with varied success, both within the UK and across the continent. Winning the National Kart Racing Association championship, the Northern Karting Federation Championship and the TVKC PFI Club Championship to name a few. Driving for kart chassis manufacturer Intrepid UK.
In 2013 Robin decided to promote George into cars via way of the Mazda MX5 mk3, competing in the BRSCC Supercup championship. This proved to be the correct decision as after only one season in cars George was regularly competing for poles and race wins in the large competitive gird.
In the winter of 2015 after some testing in GT, radical and Formula 3 cars Robin elected the pair would make the switch from racing sports cars into single seaters. Purchasing a F308 Mugen Honda Dallara from Hywel Lloyd at CF Racing.
In their first season George won the 2016 F3 CUP Championship with the help of CF Racing and Northampton Motorsport and continued to compete in the championship for the following years with multiple race wins, pole positions and fastest laps.
After some brief appearances racing GB4 and Praga R1 cars, Langford Line Motorsport are now racing within the Monoposto Championship in a F308 VW Spiess Formula 3 Car, independently run by a team of University Graduates and Students lead by Robin Langford.
