Langford Line Motorsport win on Thruxton Circuit debut
Thruxton Race circuit, known as ‘the fastest track in the UK’ located in Hampshire, was the venue for the latest round of the Monoposto single seater championship. A first time visit for both the Langford Line Motorsport Team and driver George Line.
After being 13th fastest in the morning practice the team were under a lot of pressure adapting the setup of their Dallara Formula 3 car to suit the new circuit. The changes were a success as George qualified on the second row in 4th position and after a bit more fine turning the team were confident when they made their way down to the grid for the first race.
The grandstands were packed as the popular British Truck Championship was also featuring on the same weekend. The circuit was buzzing with spectators and race 1 for the Monoposto championship didn’t disappoint providing much action.
After a large crash on the first lap involving multiple drivers, the race was stopped and the cars were re grided for the restart. As the lights went out George made a great start getting into the lead after the third corner as the rain started to fall. With the conditions getting worse there was yet another crash which brought out the safety car and ended the race.
For Race 2 George started 4th again and after avoiding the numerous incidents and making the most of the setup improvements from the team, crossed the line in first position. Going on to also win the 3rd and final race of the day. Setting the fastest lap in each race with an average speed of 117mph over the 2.3 mile circuit.
An overall brilliant weekend for the Langford Line Motorsport Team who all enjoyed their visit to Thruxton, working out of the pit lane garages the historical track conveying allot of character and charm.
Great work by all the team members including Alex Russell, Callum Kirwan, Christian Walker, Ollie Wood, Robin Langford, Paige Jordan and a special mention to new student Jordan Batelaan from Sussex University who worked very professionally and competently under the immense pressure of a race weekend with a condensed timetable.
