Silverstone First Meeting of the Season

Silverstone International was the venue for the first round of the new 2026 Monposto Championship, anticipation levels were high for the Langford Line Motorsport Team as they set up the workshop in the spacious F1 Pitlane garages located within the Silverstone Wing. The F308 Dallara Race car had been completely reassembled following the engine being sent to VW Spiess in Germany for a full rebuild.

Friday testing was very challenging for the team with multiple gearbox and brake problems plaguing the day and allowing for minimal running and track time. After a long night of hard work driver George Line set out for qualifying on Saturday morning. But the problems persisted meaning George could only qualify 24th.

After a monumental effort from the Langford Line Motorsport Team the issue was diagnosed as a wheel bearing failure and repaired in record time just as the cars were called to the grid for the first race of the season.

Thanks to a great start taking advantage of some first lap incidents George slowly made his was up the order, the car was clearly back to being in perfect condition as it set the fastest lap of the race chasing down the leaders. Following even more contact with driver’s infront George suddenly found himself in 2nd position challenging for the lead. With not many laps remaining George made the overtake right alongside the pit wall! Starting 24th to win the race of 14 laps the whole team were so pleased all their hard work had paid off.

Sunday proved slightly less dramatic with George winning the 2 races from starting 1st, setting the fastest lap in each and achieving an average speed of over 100mph across the lap.

As always a huge thank you to everyone involved within the Langford Line Motorsport Team: Robin Langford, Callum Kirwan, Calum Bach, Christian Walker, Ollie Wood, Joshua Oughton, Daniel Oakes and Paige Jordan.
