Line Dominates Donnington

George Line racing with Langford Line Motorsport has had a very successful late summer. He qualified pole at the Croft Circuit near Dalton-on-Tees in North Yorkshire, then went on to win both races at the Battle of Britain Meeting. The weather was a challenge, the team had to do some very quick changes from dry to wet setup honing their race craft skills.

The Donington Park Meeting also presented unforcasted weather changes. The race format was another double header i.e. 1 qualifying session and 2 races, with qualifying scheduled to be 15 minutes in length and the two races 20 minutes in length.  George qualified pole only to have it taken away for an exceeding track limits infringement. He started second in the first race, going onto dominate in the lead. He started on pole in the next race winning by a strong margin in the wet conditions.

Donington Park is one of the oldest circuits in the UK having been established in the 1930's and the original track layout is pretty similar to the current one we are used to.    The circuit fell out of use following the outbreak of war in 1939, and it wasn't until the late 1970's when it re-opened thanks to the efforts of Tom Wheatcroft.    In 2010, a failed effort to secure the British Grand Prix almost led to closure, but the Wheatcroft family got the circuit repaired and the circuit is currently leased to MSVR who have invested heavily.

At the meeting George was also presented with the Tom Wheatcroft Memorial Trophy by The Donington Park Racing Association Club.

As always a huge thank you to the team of motorsport students and our band of followers who are also willing to lend a hand at times of pressure! Led by Robin Langford we have achieved some success this year.

In the Ryan Motorsport Insurance Autosport National Rankings entering the top 10 this week is George Line. Dallara F308 pilot Line climbs 10 spaces to ninth following more Monoposto mastery at Donington Park.
